Society of Activists for Human Empowerment (SAHEM)

Society of Activists for Human Empowerment (SAHEM) is an initiative that aims at empowering young individuals to be active and committed members of their communities, effectively exercising their citizenship by knowing their rights and responsibilities, in an effort to set a cornerstone to the development of civil society in the kingdom.
SAHEM is currently supported by a group of motivated volunteers, forming a diverse membership that includes people from various institutions and social groups, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity and socio-economic background. The longterm vision of SAHEM is to transform the initiative from a group into an NGO, providing a venue for collaborative civic work and partnership among local and international NGO's.
SAHEM acknowledges that the empowerement of young people through activism and fully inclusive civic participation plays a vital role in economic development, better government, and social progress.
Though the number of NGO's in Saudi Arabia has increased significantly in recent years, the extent of their influence on Saudi society remains limited. The lack in spirit of participation and the absence of inter-organizational coordination are among the key factors that hinder NGO's from realizing their full potential. Additionally, while most organizations in Saudi Arabia are merely charity-driven, SAHEM aims at transforming the spirit of participation towards a development-focused approach, with active citizenship as a central motivating theme. Rather than just recruiting individuals who work in typical areas such as welfare, the organization will emphasize social and rightful activism, especially among the youth. By expanding its working fields to include a wider range of civic activities, SAHEM will develop initiatives to increase the public's awareness of social justice and strengthen civil society and the rule of law.

هي مبادرة تهدف إلى تمكين الشباب ليكونوا أعضاء فاعلين وملتزمين بتنمية مجتمعاتهم وممارسة مواطنتهم من خلال معرفة حقوقهم ومسؤولياتهم لخلق جيل من النشطاء لديه الوعي والرغبة في تحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية وتعزيز سيادة القانون

تقديم أجيال من النشطاء الساعيين لبناء مجتمع مدني متعدد قائم على المواطنة و سيادة القانون
الرؤية
على المدى البعيد, تحول المبادرة إلى مؤسسة عمل مدني غير ربحية مستقلة من شأنها الإسهام في تقدم المملكة وبناء وتعزيزوالحفاظ على المجتمع المدني
تحرص المبادرة لتمكين جميع شرائح و أطياف المجتمع السعودي.
المبادرة تتطلع لكل من يطمح للتغيير و المساهمة في تنمية المجتمع المدني في الممكلة, خاصة من له شغف في الشؤون العامة و مجالات الخدمات التطوعية و التوعية الاجتماعية.
العضوية متاحة للمتطوعين من كافة الفئات العمرية مع التركيز على من هم دون سن الأربعين, حيث أن هذه الفئة تشكل الأغلبية العظمى من سكان المملكة.
