Division:

  • Education

Mission:

The aim is two-fold, first to showcase Middle Eastern endeavors in the diaspora to the outside world, and secondly to create an appreciation for research in the Middle East

Description:

The project aims to increase the recognition of professors of Arab and Middle Eastern descent to a wider audience. An article published in an ADI affiliated periodical will highlight the main aspects of their research as well as serve as a window for appreciation of these professors both in the western world and in the Middle East. The feature article will be in the form of an interview where professors are asked questions pertaining to their field of research, the future of such fields in the Middle East, as well a more personal outlook on the future of the Middle East.

Seeing that the ADI has most of its ambassadors in Canada and the USA, I believe this would a good region to start from, and hopefully this will then be able to spread to Europe. Following the creation of an ADI affiliated periodical or through a partnership with an already existing periodical, the project can kick-start. Until then, the project members can begin their research at their own universities first, then at other universities, for researching professors that would be willing to be featured.

Motivated members that share the same vision and flair for the importance of research is key. In order, to be effective, it would be ideal that members reside both in Canada and the US. The main skills that will be needed include journalistic skills and a strong command of the English language, especially in writing.

Interviews do not need to be done in person, although preferred.
